William JANES V was born on 9 Apr 1780 in WV; died on 1 Mar 1841 in Jefferson Twp., Fayette, OH; buried in the “old cemetery”, Jeffersonville, Fayette, OH.
William JANES V married Catherine WEYBRIGHT. They had the following children: Eleanor JANES (b. 5 May 1803), Mary JANES (b. 1805), ♥ Catherine “Katie” JANES (b. 1808), William Paine JANES (b. 24 Oct 1809), Margaret JANES (b. 1810), Harrison JANES (b. 1815), Elizabeth JANES (b. 1817), Anna JANES (b. 1820), George W. JANES (b. 23 Dec 1822), Sarah JANES (b.3 Dec 1824).

There exists a deed from William & Catherine, dated 1819 in WV, from when the family sold land prior to moving to Fayette Co., OH; also, another deed for land they bought in OH in 1820, but not recorded until paid for in 1838. William’s parents (William Janes IV and Margaret Seybert) and grandparents (William Janes III and Miss Paine) had plantations a few miles north of Monterey, VA on Straight Creek, this may be where the family left when removing to OH.

• 1822 William Janes was elected “Justice of the Peace” for Jefferson Township, Fayette County, OH.{D1)
• 1824 William Janes was elected a “trustee”, one of three Jefferson Township Officials.{D1}
• 1825 William, age 45 years, reelected as a “trustee” for the township. .{D1}
• 1826 Reelected township official, “trustee”.
• On 18 March 1826, the township trustees divided Jeffersoninto seven school districts, the William Janes family was located in the Third District.{D1}
• 1837 William, age 57 was reelected as a township official.
DEATH:
William Janes died 1 March 1841, his daughter’s (Catherine) husband, Jeffrey Horney, was one of the Administrators of his estate; inventoried23 Mar 1841. {D2}
